Prices, exchange rates, opening hours, transport routes, rules and procedures change, sometimes quickly. Many posts describe what things were like when I visited or went through a process, which may have been months or years before you read them. Any prices I mention (for example entry fees, ropeway tickets or meal costs) are approximate and were correct only at the time of writing.

Before you book, travel, move or spend money, please check the current details with the official source. For example:
- Visas, residence status and work permission: the Immigration Services Agency of Japan and the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country.
- Bringing pets into Japan: the Animal Quarantine Service (MAFF) and a veterinarian qualified in export and import requirements.
